Duck and Cover-How My Home Based Business Almost Got Me Killed Duck and Cover-How My Home Based Business Almost Got Me Killed by Mr. William Fontane Shut

Hey, what was that! Somebody could have told me that I would need body armor for the game today. It's midweek, midday, and I'm dodging more baseballs in the stands than the players are on the field. Today I hang out with Earl, my frat brother from college, to have a good time and continue the unofficial contest we have with our home based businesses.

It's the Giants versus the Cubs but we don't really care who wins, we just do this ever so often as a way to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Every time we get together we sarcastically thank our bosses for letting us have the day off with pay to basically shoot the breeze all day. We do this to celebrate the fact that we are our own bosses with our own home based businesses in which we call the shots.

While most people are slaving at their job, we're at a ballpark dodging baseballs and eating peanuts. Great thing about being here is that I'll still make about $200 bucks today from my home business and I haven't even done any work. An eight year quest has culminated into me having my ideal life.

Home Run! Hey, that's coming straight at me so I conjure up the spirit of the athlete in me that has long passed, but instead of grabbing the home run ball it grabbed me; Ouch! I need ice now and my laughing friend to my right says I need to stick to running my home based business. But somehow, this has given me a glimpse to an interesting business idea.

I could say that my home business caused this; say that if I was still in the rat race I wouldn't have time for afternoon baseball outings and therefore I may not have hurt myself. But I did go after the ball like an idiot, so my home business is forgiven and I'll stick to working from home and not trying to catch speeding projectiles. This temporary pain kind of sums up how I feel; running your own home based business will have its challenges-but working to make someone wealthy will cause more pain and be less rewarding.

At the sight of two more speeding flashes I duck and cover and continue talking shop with my buddy. He's telling me about some new marketing technique that grew his earnings from the previous two years. And I school him on how to further monetize his home business efforts. And like the aligning of stars or something, we start spewing about new partnerships we've forged with an advertising company. His partner sounds a lot like my partner- and without even discussing it until now, we've positioned ourselves and our home based businesses in a prime spot for rapid growth.

Apparently my best bud found this new company first and he's looking to win our "Smartest Home Business Move" award which is a free beer from the loser. By getting there on the ground floor he was able to negotiate a $3 commission of every $4 sale. I want that free beer too so I bragged to him about how I was able to get the same startup to match my marketing dollars 100%, which they did and still do.

Walking towards the parking lot after the game gave me an opportunity to access my progress in my home based business. To be truthful, I started with a lot of passion but not much action. But as soon as I figured out how to follow my words with actions I was well on my way to enjoying finer things. I believe that everyone is destined to do great things you just have to make sure you stay on your path.
